KARMIC INDICATORS

Karmic indicators help a person become aware of deep-rooted problems that go back to past lives, and begin working on themselves in order to overcome them and improve both this life and, potentially, the next one. Karmic problems should not be understood as punishment for misdeeds and sins, as karma is usually interpreted in the everyday sense. Karma is not retribution, but rather inertia, when a person attracts similar situations from one life to another. From a karmic point of view, every element of the natal chart can be interpreted without exception. However, the most important indicators of karma in the horoscope are retrograde planets, if any, and the Lunar Nodes.

Retrograde Planets

Retrograde planets are always connected with turning back to the past. The more retrograde planets a person has in the horoscope, the stronger their connection with the past. A retrograde planet also points to an unresolved task from a past life, unfinished business, or unrealized abilities. It forces the person to take up again what could not be completed in the past. Retrograde Venus — Individuality

A person with retrograde Venus differs noticeably from a person with Venus in direct motion. Here, there is a tendency to create grievances and wounds within and work through them internally, whereas Venus in direct motion would try to work them through outwardly. Often, retrograde Venus not only creates these grievances and wounds, but also tends to exaggerate their effect. Excessive emphasis is placed on the lack of love in the individual’s life. For such a person, the path of love does not flow smoothly.

Excessively shy, they usually doubt whether people pay attention to them. Not always certain of their likes and dislikes, they experience a discrepancy between their life and their awareness of it. They may be deeply in love and not realize it until years after the relationship has ended. They experience many similar behavior patterns designed to keep them from entering the reality of what they think they truly need.

There is always difficulty with the opposite sex, since the individual tends to subconsciously preprogram their future relationships so that they fit the patterns of their past.

Great insecurity corresponds to this position, since the individual constantly tries to measure up to the people whose paths cross theirs. But in doing so, they semi-consciously continue pushing others away so that no one truly comes to know them deeply enough to threaten the small degree of confidence and security on which they have based their identity. In this position, the individual blocks themselves from happiness by trying too hard to achieve it.

Retrograde Venus — Karma

When Venus is retrograde, the individual carries with them a misunderstanding of love from a past life. The emotional pain was so strong that they now cut themselves off from fully experiencing the richness of love because they are afraid of being wounded again. Whether male or female, there is great difficulty in relationships with the opposite sex in the current life.

Trying to live in the present, they endlessly recreate the past memory of love from a previous incarnation, which continues to elude them. They react to the present as if they are actually living in their past. In this sense, they are fixed at some point in time, and no matter what they do, there will hardly be the forward movement they say they want.

In men’s charts, this sometimes indicates karma connected with homosexuality. But even homosexuality has its levels, ranging from an openly homosexual man who tries to politically promote homosexuality to the world, to a man who will not tolerate even the word in his presence, who is married but looks for every opportunity to avoid women while proving his masculinity. In the life of the latter type of man, everything revolves around male friends. Under the pretext of attending clubs, associations, and so on, he avoids the company of women. He may function respectably in society, but he is still a latent homosexual. Less often, similar reactions are found in women with retrograde Venus.

The most noticeable karmic pattern is that the individual, whether male or female, has a strong tendency to distrust most offers of love, feeling that those who make these offers usually have hidden motives.

Retrograde Venus in Scorpio

This is a very difficult position for retrograde Venus, since Scorpio’s drive continues pushing the individual beyond their own satisfaction. They never feel satisfied; rather, they sense that everything they are seeking is just around the next corner or buried in the next well within their consciousness. Spending a great deal of time in Phase I, they seek future satisfaction, but unfortunately continue thinking they will find their ideal in another person, place, or situation rather than in the deepest recesses of their own being. They are very jealous and secretive in love, while at the same time intensely interested in other people’s personal feelings. Essentially, because of everything they see in others, it is difficult for them to experience what they are seeking within themselves.

They go through long periods when they believe their dissatisfaction is sexual, but it extends much deeper than that. The point is that in past incarnations they had experiences that caused them to dislike themselves on a subconscious level. They feel alienated from the ideals they sense within themselves, and no matter how hard they try, they are unable to convince themselves of their own worth.

When this pattern continues, their behavior only intensifies the inner feeling of failure and distances them from everything they truly want. In some cases, the root of the problem may be a love from a past life on which they relied and in which they were ultimately disappointed. If this is so, then usually this experience is repeated early in this life.

It is difficult for them to feel completely at ease with the opposite sex, and until they look within themselves, they may invent many reasons for this. Nevertheless, at the deepest levels, they do not allow themselves to become vulnerable to others, because they experienced pain in the past.

For people with this Venus position, it is important to learn forgiveness, but the individual must understand that forgiveness is impossible without forgetting. With this position, the individual can function during all three retrograde phases, but their greatest evolution occurs during Phase III, when, by reevaluating everything they have experienced, they can move beyond the feelings of the lower karmic levels of their past.

Retrograde Saturn - Individuality

A native with retrograde Saturn takes very seriously the completion of everything they left unfinished in the past. They tend to go back in order to fill any gaps in what they once too hastily considered complete. Essentially, they are thoughtful and balanced. At times, they may seem overly cautious or too frugal, but any restraint on their part is entirely based on their need to preserve substance for important use. They consider excessive spending or wastefulness harmful, because they experienced this in past lives. Now they deeply value everything they learn or receive. Often, they feel an inner duty to God, which manifests as a powerful sense of gratitude for everything they see around them.

They try to teach other people who are less knowledgeable or experienced than they are. However, this is unsuccessful if those people have not experienced the native’s “fall from grace” in a past life and the great struggle that has now earned them the way back. As a result, retrograde Saturn carries an “inborn” maturity that cannot be achieved without great personal struggle and sacrifice.

Retrograde Saturn - Karma

Retrograde Saturn always indicates ongoing karma from past incarnations. Whatever the lesson may be, the native is unusually slow in bringing it to completion. Therefore, in this life, they must carry an additional burden from a past life within their soul. When the two lives finally come together, their true mission should become clear to them. Much of what they do in this life is a repetition of what their Saturn already stands for. But now they are faced with circumstances and situations that are somewhat different. The retrograde action of the planet may make them feel a restraining force, especially if they try to escape the weight of its lesson. But if they follow it, understanding that its patient guidance is slowly leading them toward identification with something higher than they could have imagined, then through this planet they can come to appreciate the workings of a beautiful divine universe.

Saturn is the person’s teacher, and when it is retrograde, it means the native experienced similar training before this life. Over the course of life, retrograde Saturn provides a tremendous amount of wisdom.

For Saturn, the retrograde position is the most natural and comfortable one, because it gives the native something like a second chance to refine the relationship formed between their soul, the circumstances they encountered in a past incarnation, and the way those circumstances were understood. Now, under Saturn’s calm guidance, the person can give form to everything they learned in the past.

Retrograde Saturn in Taurus

The person may become unusually attached to things, places, and ideas that seem to remind them of everything they were accustomed to in the past. With this placement, the fixed nature of Taurus is strengthened as familiar life patterns repeat again and again. Sometimes there is difficulty expressing what the native knows, because language is not among their strongest gifts.

Here Phase Three of the retrograde process is strongly emphasized, as the native tries to recreate in Matter everything they value. They are interested in the ability to structure their life so that they can ultimately reach the feeling that they have earned their security. The Lunar Nodes Have Direct Motion

The Lunar Nodes are retrograde for most of the time, meaning they move in the direction opposite to the motion of the planets. Direct motion, however, is allotted relatively little time.

The native with direct Nodes does not have currents within them directed toward the Past; it can be assumed that they are actively oriented only toward the Future. Moreover, the absence of the natural tension created by two opposite Times allows the person to be freer in their relationship with their individual Time. This is precisely why they can allow themselves to stretch Time without becoming too actively involved in the realization of any tasks. Accordingly, this position may be considered one that frees the person from temporal dependence, and therefore from excessive dependence on rigid debt-based programs.

Accordingly, it can be assumed that direct Nodes are received by a Soul that must:

• — either fulfill an important mission, and for this purpose it is freed from everyday temporal dependence and temporal duty, so that at the necessary moment of Time it, unburdened by everyday service, will be ready to fulfill the main karmic task.

In addition to the North Node, the path of karmic advancement and the application of innate talents is shown by the White Moon, also called Selena or Lulu. This is a fictitious point that reflects the light karma accumulated by the native in a past life, or by their ancestors over several generations.
