David Copperfield (born David Seth Kotkin) was born in 1956 in New Jersey. He began his magic career as a child, and by age 16 was already teaching magic at a university. Worldwide fame came to him through television specials, where he performed grand illusions: making the Statue of Liberty disappear, flying over the Grand Canyon, and walking through the Great Wall of China.
Copperfield is considered one of the most commercially successful illusionists in history, having earned billions of dollars. Beyond the stage, he is known for his charity work (rehabilitating people with disabilities through magic) and for collecting historical artifacts.
