Chinese-American actor and martial arts expert who skillfully portrayed heroism and grace in martial arts films. His first film from China became wildly popular in the United States, which led to a passion for martial arts. He has become a cult figure among action-loving youth, with fan clubs all over the world. Lee’s films include 1971’s The Big Boss and 1973’s Enter the Dragon.
Lee died on July 20, 1973, at the age of 32. There were no external injuries, but Lee’s brain was significantly swollen, according to autopsy reports. Since his death, Lee has continued to have a notable influence on modern combat sports, including judo, karate, mixed martial arts, and boxing, as well as modern popular culture, including films, television, comic books, animation, and video games. Time magazine named Lee one of the 100 most important people of the 20th century.
