Charles Manson is an American criminal, leader of the Manson Family sect. He became famous in the late 1960s due to a series of brutal murders committed by his followers.
Manson was born on November 12, 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio. His childhood was difficult: he grew up without a father, his mother was often in prison, and Charles himself spent most of his youth in correctional institutions. In the early 1960s, he became interested in the occult and began to create his own teachings, attracting young people disillusioned with society.
In 1967, Manson moved to California, where he founded a sect he called “The Family.” In 1969, Manson and his followers committed several murders, the most famous of which was the murder of actress Sharon Tate and her friends. Manson did not personally participate in the murders, but was found guilty of organizing them.
In 1971, he was sentenced to death, but after the death penalty was abolished in California, his sentence was commuted to life imprisonment. Manson spent the rest of his life in prison and died on November 19, 2017 at the age of 83. Link to biography.
