Tom Skerritt is an American actor. He began his acting career in the 1960s, and has since become famous for his roles in film and television.
Skerritt became widely known for his participation in cult films such as Alien (1979), where he played Captain Dallas, Top Gun (1986), in which he played Commander Viper, and Witness (1985). He also played in such films as MASH (1970), Steel Magnolia (1989) and Contact (1997).
On television, Tom Skerritt has also achieved success, winning an Emmy Award for his role in The West Wing (2001).
In addition to acting, Skerritt is involved in directing and producing. Over the years, he has continued to remain active in the film industry, although many of his recent roles have been in independent projects and TV series. Link to biography.
