Hubert de Givenchy is a French fashion designer, founder of the Givenchy fashion house and one of the leading couturiers of the 20th century.
He was born on February 20, 1927 in Beauvais, France, to an aristocratic family. In 1945, he moved to Paris to study fashion. He began his career as an assistant to famous designers such as Jacques Fath and Elsa Schiaparelli.
In 1952, Givenchy founded his own fashion house, which quickly gained popularity thanks to its refined and elegant collections. One of the iconic moments of his career was his meeting with actress Audrey Hepburn. She became his muse and close friend. Givenchy created famous looks for her in films such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Sabrina.
The Givenchy fashion house has become synonymous with elegance and luxury. Givenchy was a pioneer of minimalism in fashion, focusing on simplicity of lines and sophistication. He is also known for dressing many famous people, including Jacqueline Kennedy and Grace Kelly.
