Margie Stewart is an American actress and model, born December 14, 1919 in Whitefish, Montana, and became one of the most famous poster girls in the United States during World War II. She attended the University of California, Los Angeles and began her career as a model, after which she received a contract with RKO Pictures. During
the war, she gained fame by becoming the official “pin-up girl” of the United States Army – her photos were distributed to keep the spirits of American soldiers up. Margie Stewart also starred in several Hollywood films, including Bombardier (1943) and Johnny Doesn’t Live Here Anymore (1944). Although she did not achieve the status of a major movie star, her role as an American propaganda symbol remained significant.
After the war, Margie retired from film and focused on her family. She was also involved in charity work and was active in helping veterans. Margie Stewart died on April 26, 2012, at the age of 92. Link to biography.
