Alexander Blok

Alexander Blok was a Russian poet, playwright, and literary critic, one of the most prominent representatives of symbolism in Russian literature.
He was born on November 28, 1880 in St. Petersburg to a family of a law professor and a writer. Blok began writing poetry in his youth and was deeply interested in philosophy and mysticism, which was reflected in his work.
He made his poetic debut in the early 1900s, and soon became a central figure in the symbolist movement. One of his most famous collections was Poems about the Beautiful Lady (1904), dedicated to his wife, Lyubov Mendeleyeva, the daughter of the famous chemist Dmitri Mendeleyev.
Other famous works include the poem The Twelve (1918), dedicated to the October Revolution, and the drama The Booth (1906). In his poetry, Blok often addressed the themes of love, mysticism, and Russian destiny.
Blok also actively participated in literary and public life, but the 1917 revolution caused him complex feelings. Towards the end of his life, he experienced a spiritual and creative crisis.
Alexander Blok died on August 7, 1921 in Petrograd (now St. Petersburg) from heart disease. His work had a significant influence on Russian literature of the 20th century. Link to biography.

KARMIC INDICATORS

Karmic indicators help a person become aware of deep-rooted problems that go back to past lives, and begin working on themselves in order to overcome them and improve both this life and, potentially, the next one. Karmic problems should not be understood as punishment for misdeeds and sins, as karma is usually interpreted in the everyday sense. Karma is not retribution, but rather inertia, when a person attracts similar situations from one life to another. From a karmic point of view, every element of the natal chart can be interpreted without exception. However, the most important indicators of karma in the horoscope are retrograde planets, if any, and the Lunar Nodes.

Retrograde Planets

Retrograde planets are always connected with turning back to the past. The more retrograde planets a person has in the horoscope, the stronger their connection with the past. A retrograde planet also points to an unresolved task from a past life, unfinished business, or unrealized abilities. It forces the person to take up again what could not be completed in the past. The symbol used in the table is R.

Retrograde Mercury — Individuality

When Mercury is retrograde in the horoscope, the individual’s conscious mind is able to intercept ideas from the universal consciousness of earlier times. Usually, they are not aware of this, but they are aware that they cannot easily make others understand everything they know. This is partly connected with the inversion of the Mercury symbol, in which the significance of Matter exceeds the significance of Spirit and Soul. This makes the individual concerned with the form of their ideas. And this acts as a barrier to the essence of their knowledge.

In addition, the wavelength of their mind differs slightly from what is accepted in society. Thought processes tend to repeat themselves like an endless recording, and as a result, most of the things they create are, in one form or another, copies of what they have already done. When they speak, it is difficult for them to project the exact telepathic pictures that convey the meanings of their thoughts. Thus, they often feel misunderstood and wonder why others do not always see things the same way they do.

They see themselves as more separate from society than a person with Mercury in direct motion may be. As a result, they desperately try to develop contacts with other people, overemphasizing their ideas until they begin to irritate those around them. Feeling constrained in company, they make great efforts to win the favor of others. Nevertheless, at the slightest hint of rejection, they may give up too easily. Ultimately, they learn that in order to have self-confidence, they must become more detached and impartial than people with Mercury in direct motion. This is often interpreted by others as “coldness,” but it is simply the vibration of retrograde Mercury, which is so obviously disharmonious with the vibrations of direct motion. Behind the apparent wall, this individual is far more sensitive than most people can imagine.

Once the communication barrier has been crossed, tremendous understanding and intuition emanate from retrograde Mercury. The retrograde individual does not fit into the ideas and opinions of the people around them. Instead, they can find peace in gratitude for their unique way of seeing things.

It is interesting to note that many people with musical talent have retrograde Mercury. Perhaps awareness of difficulties with spoken language led them to another form of communication, one that has much greater freedom and many levels of subtle mental and emotional expression.

Retrograde Mercury — Karma

A person with retrograde Mercury must experience unresolved relationship karma. They react to others as if those people symbolize figures from their past. Thus, it is difficult for them to keep the focus of their consciousness on the “here and now.” Usually, this manifests as difficulties with family and relatives. But the issue of relationships extends beyond communication with other people and includes the perception of the universe as a whole. There is often a problem characteristic of retrograde Mercury in terms of seeing what may be called an inverted reality. The individual has difficulty understanding the basic relationship between cause and effect. They explore the essence of life itself, yet often cannot see the simple connections between things, circumstances, and people. Lost in thoughts that lie beyond their understanding, they must learn to be content with the simple things on which life is based. They are so absorbed in uncovering what is beyond their understanding that they almost always miss the obvious.

From a karmic point of view, this individual must learn to focus attention on the reality of the present rather than lose themselves in all the apparent layers they perceive. When they are able to do this, they will be able to establish a solid point of reference in the “here and now,” through which all the discoveries they make can be expressed to the outer world.

Retrograde Mercury in Scorpio

Here, the individual experiences the greatest harmony during Phase I. At this moment, Mercury’s need for activity blends with Scorpio’s search for discovery and excites the individual, so that they strive to move forward into spheres still unknown to them. As a result, they develop an unusually sharp mind, with the ability to check and revise during Phase III in order to uncover hidden depths that other people have not noticed. They rediscover what has been consigned to oblivion. This makes them highly suited to any work of a scientific nature.

This is an unusually deep individual who is fully capable of solving their own problems. Thus, they tend to maintain a more silent position, rarely expressing what troubles them. Many people with retrograde Mercury in Scorpio experienced separation from a loved one at a young age in a previous incarnation. This gives such individuals the ability to stand firm and resolute in this life, enduring a certain inner loneliness that only strengthens their individuality.

Retrograde Mercury in the Eleventh House

Here, the individual experiences more mental freedom than practical application of their thoughts. As they pass through the retrograde phases, they may be an inspirer of ideas for others during Phase I, or, at the other extreme, a dreamer during Phase III, reflecting on what they could have done but did not do. The Uranian need for excitement and the mental need for stimulation make Phase II the most uncomfortable one for the individual.
