Karma is not retribution, but rather inertia, when a person attracts similar situations from one life to another. However, the most important indicators of karma in the horoscope are retrograde planets, if any, and the Lunar Nodes.
Retrograde Planets
Retrograde planets are always connected with turning back to the past. The more retrograde planets a person has in the horoscope, the stronger their connection with the past. A retrograde planet also points to an unresolved task from a past life, unfinished business, or unrealized abilities. It forces the person to take up again what could not be completed in the past. Retrograde Venus — Individuality
A person with retrograde Venus differs noticeably from a person with Venus in direct motion. Retrograde Venus — Karma
When Venus is retrograde, the individual carries with them a misunderstanding of love from a past life. The emotional pain was so strong that they now cut themselves off from fully experiencing the richness of love because they are afraid of being wounded again. Whether male or female, there is great difficulty in relationships with the opposite sex in the current life.
Trying to live in the present, they endlessly recreate the past memory of love from a previous incarnation, which continues to elude them. They react to the present as if they are actually living in their past. In this sense, they are fixed at some point in time, and no matter what they do, there will hardly be the forward movement they say they want.
In men’s charts, this sometimes indicates karma connected with homosexuality. But even homosexuality has its levels, ranging from an openly homosexual man who tries to politically promote homosexuality to the world, to a man who will not tolerate even the word in his presence, who is married but looks for every opportunity to avoid women while proving his masculinity. In the life of the latter type of man, everything revolves around male friends. Under the pretext of attending clubs, associations, and so on, he avoids the company of women. He may function respectably in society, but he is still a latent homosexual. Less often, similar reactions are found in women with retrograde Venus.
The most noticeable karmic pattern is that the individual, whether male or female, has a strong tendency to distrust most offers of love, feeling that those who make these offers usually have hidden motives.
Retrograde Venus in Aquarius
Here, the individual feels most comfortable during Phase I of the retrograde process. They can explore needs whose glimpses they sense before these needs become real in their life. At times, they may become commanding and domineering in their desire to help others, sometimes unintentionally interfering with them. They are very independent and cannot easily accept restrictions. Their attachments are spread among so many things, people, and circumstances that those close to them cannot focus their energy. Much of this scattering, however, is simply a reflection of their very changeable nature. They are usually overly sensitive to their environment and must change their approach to life in order to feel balanced.
They may be a rebel, love their freedom, and cannot tolerate people imposing their will on them. At the same time, they feel they know what is best for others. Thus, there appears to be a lack of perspective in their personal relationships.

During Phase I, they actively explore the unknown, while during Phase III they reexamine unknown or little-used fragments of knowledge from the past. It is during the third phase that many people with this retrograde Venus position enjoy studying ancient civilizations or little-known documents from other periods in history. For many, this position brings a great interest in astrology and esoteric subjects. If all the artificial layers of the individual’s life are removed, this is a very lonely person. Their selfless need to help other people is actually a mask for their attempts to earn their way back into humanity, which in another incarnation somehow rejected them. Thus, they never expect complete closeness for any long period of time, but they are simply content to know that their beliefs and ideas are now accepted. And they will do their utmost simply to earn this acceptance.
Retrograde Venus in the Seventh House
This is one of the most distinctive positions for retrograde Venus. As the ruler of the Seventh House, it can be very beneficial if the individual uses it to see a true reflection of themselves in the eyes of those they love. However, if they fight against the fact that many of their ideas, thoughts, and feelings seem to be rejected, and do not understand the reasons for this, then they may actually create instability throughout the entire horoscope.

As they slip from one retrograde phase to another, they take on different identities, each of which is self-directed, but none of which is truly their center. Retrograde Saturn - Individuality
A native with retrograde Saturn takes very seriously the completion of everything they left unfinished in the past.
