Michael J. Fox

Michael J. Fox (born June 9, 1961) is a Canadian-American actor, producer, writer, and social activist. He is known for his roles in film and television, as well as his active fight against Parkinson’s disease.
He was born in Edmonton, Canada, to a police officer father and a housewife mother. As a child, he was interested in music and acting. He began acting in television shows at a young age.
In the late 1970s, he moved to Los Angeles, where he received his first significant role in the series Family Ties (1982–1989). His role as Alex P. Keaton brought him three Emmy Awards and wide popularity.
Michael J. Fox gained worldwide fame thanks to his role as Marty McFly in the cult trilogy Back to the Future (1985, 1989, 1990). The films became a symbol of the sci-fi genre of the 1980s.
Other notable works:
Comedy Teen Wolf (1985), Doc Hollywood (1991). Roles in the TV series Spin City (1996-2001), for which he received another Emmy Award.
In 1991, Michael was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, but he only publicly announced it in 1998. He subsequently created the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research, which has become the largest charitable organization in this field.
Since 1988, he has been married to actress Tracy Pollan. The couple have four children.
He has won numerous awards, including an Emmy, a Golden Globe, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
In 2022, he received an honorary Oscar for humanitarian services.
Despite the progression of the disease, he continues to act in films and on television, and is also actively involved in charity work.
