Tommy Hilfiger is an American designer and founder of the eponymous brand Tommy Hilfiger, which has become one of the most famous in the fashion world. He was born in Elmira, New York, to a large family of Irish Catholics. In his youth, Hilfiger showed an interest in fashion and began his career by opening a small clothing store called People’s Place in 1969. Despite initial success, the business failed, but this did not stop him.
In 1985, Tommy founded his brand Tommy Hilfiger, focusing on classic American style with elements of sportswear and street fashion. The brand quickly gained popularity thanks to its signature stripes in red, white and blue, becoming a symbol of youth culture and casual style. In the 1990s, his clothes became especially popular among representatives of the hip-hop culture, which took the brand to a new level.
