John Hannah is a Scottish actor known for his roles in film, television and theatre. Born 23 April 1962 in East Kilbride, Scotland,
John Hannah began his acting career in the 1980s. His breakthrough role was Matthew in the romantic drama Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994). In the film, he was remembered for his moving speech at the funeral, for which he received widespread acclaim.
Hannah is best known for his roles as Jonathan Carnahan in the adventure film series The Mummy (1999, 2001, 2008) and Batiatus in the historical series Spartacus: Blood and Sand (2010) and its prequel Spartacus: Gods of the Arena (2011).
He has also appeared in numerous British television series, including Skins, Cops and The Vigilante.
John Hannah has been married to actress Joanna Roth since 1996. The couple have two children.
